“Crime”

Crime is an aspect of life that all citizens must deal with as it seems to have been around as long as civilization itself. Crime has enraptured communities for centuries and one assertion is that crime is more frequent in poor inner-city neighborhoods than it is in equivalent that are more affluent. There have been many different angles that have been studied as the potential causes of crime. Currently, the three major aspects include a lack of education, living in poverty, and being raised in a single-parent home.

Why do people commit crime? Reasons for committing a crime include greed, anger, jealously, revenge or pride. These people are making choices about their behavior; some even consider a life of crime better than a regular job-believing crime brings in greater rewards, admiration, and excitement- at least until they are caught. “Some people steal to stay alive, and some steal to feel alive. Simple as that.” said V.E. Schwab. Poverty’s effects on crime can be explained through a variety of reasons. There is a higher rate of mental illness in the poor than in the rich. Moreover, poverty may lead to an actual or perceived inferior education, which would cause youth to count on less access to quality schools, jobs, and role models, decreasing the opportunity costs of crime and increasing the probability of youth spending time on the street associating with gangs, etc. And there are some parents living in the street with their children, they don’t work, they are broke and they can not afford their children’s education fee. So, they start committing crimes to fight  poverty, they rob shops, markets, etc. but when they get arrested it is their problem robbing markets because they are poor. Being poor is not their problem maybe they don’t want to work or they can not find shops to work at, the government is guilty too, they leave people poor and homeless. Think about a man robbing a market because his daughter is hungry, is it his fault being poor and being hungry? I think no, because the government leave them to live in bad conditions and they can’t judge people for this.

Maybe he committed a crime like other criminals but hi robs to live but the others commit crimes for being richer. It is not fair because of that they shouldn’t be punished in the same way comparing other criminals. The government should help their family and provide them better conditions as an citizen. “Poverty is the parent of revolution and crime.” (Aristotle)
