Changes in the Population of India and China 2000-2050

The graph shows how the populations of India and China have changed since 2000 and how it is predicted to change until 2050.

Initially, the population of China was greater than that of India. In 2000, it was seen that China’s population was 1,250 billion, whereas India’s population was 1,000 billion. Since 2000, the population of India has increased steadily, and it is assumed to increase until 2050. At first, the population of China also showed an increasing trend, but in 2030, it is predicted that the population will level off and start to decline slightly. The year 2030 is also the year in which the populations of both China and India become equivalent, each being 1,450 billion. After 2030, the population of India is assumed to surpass the population of China. This also demonstrates that although initially the population of China was greater, it is anticipated that the population of India will end up being greater than that of China.

Overall, over the 50-year period, India is going to experience steady growth in its population, and it will overtake China. China’s population, however, will peak in 2030 and begin to decline thereafter.
