Carpe Diem

The Dead Poets Society,is a perfect literary classic, maybe not a Crime and Punishment or a Pride and Prejudice, but it is the most immersive among the literary works I have read, as well as a fascinating work with its characters and story. This book, which is also a movie, which has the most significant cast and Robin Williams is the perfect choice for John Keating, the professor who inspired all the students to live their dream life, the most important character,in my opinion. Also all the other characters such as Todd Anderson,Neil Perry,Knox Overstreet are well performed as well. The book is basically about a new English teacher is introduces to a group of class of a very prestigious school which has traditions and ancient Welton Academy, also called as Hellton by students has the motto “Tradition,Disipline,Honour and Excellence” which refers to the school’s secret of success, but Mr.Keating uses extraordinary methods to teach the students and help to finde their true self’s.

Both book and movie are masterpieces,I was shocked and thrilled when I finished the book, the beginning, the end,the story, the individual stories of the characters are at the top,as you read the book you can actually think that you are in the book, with those students and sharing your poets, philosophical ideas as you are in the Indian cave, like you are having a class with John Keating himself,as he continues to read poetry and revives your love of art in your heart,as you watch Neil act in William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is realistic also it gives you an opportunity to understand all characters, one by one,to have an idea of their perspective, which is the best thing.

There is a saying in The Dead Poets Society that has a very deep meaning in all people who have read the book or watch the movie,Carpe diem is a latin aphorism, which means seize the day.It is a memorable sentence to mention about, it gives us the brief idea of not to overthink about anything and don’t think about your mistakes in the past, and live the day, because in the end of the day it’s all about you and if you don’t take a break and find a moment in your life then you can’t understand the beauty surrounding yourself, the woods, the sea,the air,the nature and the emotions, stop for a moment and thank yourself and the things around yourself so that you can understand the ethereal beauty of the world. As the word are finished I want to finish this with a John Keating quote; “No matter what anybody tells you, words and ideas can change the world.”
