Çankaya Mansion

On the evening of a cold and foggy day, Atatürk had invited the essential people of the country to Çankaya Mansion. I was among them. Everyone was thinking about why Atatürk called us. My heart started to beat faster as I walked towards the mansion. Finally, we arrived at the pink mansion. All the guests looked very excited. We slowly entered the mansion. There was a dim atmosphere inside and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk greeted us at the door. His blue eyes were shining brightly. When I saw his eyes, I realized that today would be the beginning of an era.

We sat at a nice long table. There was a lot of food on the table. The chat has been created. We were very peaceful and happy. But in everyone’s mind, there was a reason why Atatürk called us. Conversations were made, and meals were eaten. It was time for the biggest part. I looked excitedly into Atatürk’s eyes. There was a deep silence. Ataturk stood up confidently.

“Dear officers, deputies, and guests, tomorrow we declare Turkey a republic.” After this Word, the guests began to look at each other. It was clear that some of them did not support the republic for this reason. Although I was initially surprised, I was willing to stand behind the republican administration until the end. We would eventually live in a secular country. The more I thought about it, the more excited I got. Just in case on

e of the guests says it’s not too early tomorrow. He asked a question. some bow. Just when Atatürk was about to speak, I jumped in instead. “Why would it be late? “Waiting for him is the worst thing we can do for the future,” I said. Atatürk agreed. There was a buzz in the room. Everyone was arguing about it.While some thought like me, there were some who thought it was too early.

But Atatürk was very determined. Me too. After much discussion, we finally came to a decision. The republic was to be proclaimed tomorrow. This is how the day ended when the first steps of a beautiful beginning were taken. I took one last look at the Çankaya mansion and left. The Republic may have been declared in one day, but it will exist forever.
