Camping with a Friend

It was a beautiful morning. I woke up and did 40 push-ups. It’s my routine for staying healthy. Then I brushed my teeth and changed my clothes. While I was walking into the kitchen, my stomach rumbled just in time. “Easy, boy. I was going to eat. Don’t worry,” I said to my stomach. I started thinking about what to eat. Deciding to make pancakes didn’t take long. I made pancakes perfectly and ate them quickly. I was hasty because today was the weekend, and I wanted to finish a series. I lay on the couch and started watching it. Then suddenly, my phone started to ring. It was John. He said, “Where are you, Mike? I’ve been waiting for you for nearly half an hour.” With John’s words, I remembered that we were going camping with him. I apologized to him and got in the car. How could I forget it? I got angry with myself.

While I was approaching the camping area, I didn’t see John. I got out of the car, and John abruptly appeared behind the car. I got scared so much. I said, “I think we’re even now.” He laughed. We found a good place to settle. I pitched my tent, but he couldn’t. I helped him, and everything was done except for firewood. He said he could go gather wood. I said I could do it. He accepted, and I started walking between trees. I was searching and searching, but there was nothing on the ground. It was getting dark, so I decided to go back. I couldn’t find my way. Everywhere looked the same. I was so scared. I couldn’t see nearly anything anymore; the jungle was so dark. I sat near a tree and tried to relax. “John probably called somebody, and they’re trying to find me now.” While I was thinking like that, I heard some footsteps but couldn’t see anything. I was sure that the sound was my footsteps. I had not to be paranoid. I kept searching, and I found something. It was a building. When I got closer, I understood that it was a water tower. Luckily, there was a road near it. I waited about 2 hours, and finally, a car came. I stopped the car and got in. When I told him what happened, he was surprised. We chatted all the way.

I finally came home again. I felt so lucky to be alive. I called John. He was shocked. He said that he had done everything to find me. He is a really good friend. Days later, we laughed at this memory so much.
