One day, a friend from our group offered us to go camping for one night. At first, everyone was a little distant towards this offer. But then we all accepted it. The next week, we all set off to the top of the Mount Ağrı. Finally, we reached the area where we would camp. As soon as we arrived at the site, our first job was to rest a little and then divide up the work. As a result of the division of labor, I and a friend of mine were left with the task of collecting wood, even though I did not want it. I didn’t want to collect wood because I was afraid to move away from the campsite. Despite these, my friend convinced me that there would be no problem and we set out to look for wood. Just when we thought everything was going well, we had collected enough wood, it was time to go back, we just realized that we had gone too far from the campsite. We have lost! Both my friend and I were extremely panicked. We can not think what should we do.
Even though I don’t know how logical a decision it was, we decided to burn the wood we found that night where we were, without taking it to the camp, so that we would have light and not get cold. We must have made too much noise while lighting the fire because we saw a bear right in front of us. Even though we were both cold at first sight, my friend had been camping before and encountered bears, so he knew what to do. He grabbed one of the woods we burned by its handle and start to swinging it towards the bear. That’s when I learned that bears are very afraid of fire. Thanks to my friend, the bear quickly walked away and left us behind. One way or another, we survived that night and when the sun rose, we set out for camp again. They must have noticed our absence because the rest of the team scattered all over the mountain to find us. Thanks to this, we were able to meet one of them and escaped from there.
Even though we were not harmed in the end, this managed to remain a fearful memory in my mind.
