Hello! It has sure been a while since we’ve met, but still, it is still as exciting as ever to reach out to you readers. Today, my contribution to your knowledge will be the Cafe Françoise, which recently opened up in our city by the French gentleman Monsieur Raymond Bernard and his wife, Madam Jeanne Bernard. For those wondering, the exact address would be 6th Street No 15.
As it is an unusual occasion for me, I did not discover this little cafe by websites or by the mayor’s office’s notifications about new opening workplaces. Instead, I found this enjoyable place in one of the days I wanted to have myself lost in the tiny streets with my dear friend, Sam.
I recently discovered (joyfully) that I’ve grown my considerable follower base in the past three years; if not by my face, by my name. So when I go to a workplace, owners try to show only their best to me while what I want to see is their actual work with its pros and cons. As a result, I try to measure the owners’ sincerity by acting like any fellow customer and observing their behaviour. Cafe Françoise was no exception.
If you are just walking idly at the 6th Street, just like Sam and I was, there are a few ways you might notice this little place. One of them is their colorful entrance, consisting of a beautiful combination of yellow curtains, light pink chairs and grey round Mediterranean-style tables. And if their oven is working, you don’t even need to turn your head that way to get the delicious smell of freshly cooked bread. Interestingly for me, even though Cafe Françoise is more focused on baked sweets, their most deliciously smelling food is their bread.
When you get in, you’ll more than likely be greeted by Madam Bernard putting new desserts into the showcase. It’s either because the old ones got spoiled or new ones came hot from the oven. Just when you’ve entered, you will notice the pink and blue themed interior; mixing with dark grey from place to place, which is not good looking according to me. But even sooner than that you will be noticing the cafe’s famous chocolate mousse, with which they are growing their popularity day by day.
Unlike some other boutique cafes, you’ll be asked your food at the entrance by Madam Bernard to choose it from the showcase. You should be warned, though: the looks of the sweets do not usually reflect how they taste. So if you decide on what looks like a strawberry and raspberry cake, you better not be surprised if you taste banana slices. So, it is certainly not a good day for people who are allergic to some fruits, because not even the kind lady always knows what fruits are in the cakes! Although, it needs to be said that the fruits taste beautifully together in the cake, so you probably wouldn’t regret the cake you chose.
I, for one, can say all good that can be said about the taste of foods, but the service has a lot missing. It is very clean, but it certainly wouldn’t hurt to have a kind waiter set your table up and gently bring your meal instead of Monsieur Bernard bringing your Creme Brulee in what looks like a dinner plate and forgetting the fork. The only way you get satisfied is with the little (free!) cookies near the hard-roasted coffee.
When I left the Cafe Françoise, I had some opinions in my mind traveling around. Lucky for me, Sam had a brief and senseful summary of her opinions: “That was pretty much just fine, you know, but it could be better, and it probably will be.”
I feel that there is nothing to say on top of that. Have a beautiful day!
