In the past, hospitality was a significant part of our culture. Relatives and friends would gather during every holiday. Today, although hospitality still exists, especially in rural areas, it has diminished, particularly in urban regions, due to the development of technology. As a result, the frequency of visits to relatives during holidays has decreased considerably.
There are other factors affecting this trend as well. For example, the employment rate of women has risen. Women used to have more time to visit their loved ones, but now, with their busy work schedules, rest has become a better option for them. Another factor is the pandemic. Since the Covid-19 outbreak in 2020, concerns about the risk of illness have made people reluctant to visit relatives during the holidays, as they may unintentionally spread the virus to their loved ones. Furthermore, as people work more these days, they feel a greater need for relaxation and personal time.
If I were in their place, I would make sure to visit my relatives during the holidays, finding a way to balance both work and family time.
