Building A Life Pyramid

Do you realize that everyone desires a happy and successful life? Most of them want a life which is full of health, endless joy, healthy relationships, fame or bank accounts that have millions in it… Unfortunately, not everyone understands how to play their cards properly. There are four key prerequisites for a happy and successful life which will increase the level of quality of the way you live your life: priority given to yourself, self exploration, great level of analysis and management skills.

First and foremost, self-esteem is the fundamental term that you need to put at the top when you are building your life pyramid. You always need to give your priority to yourself and there is a misconception regarding it, which is “But doesn’t it suggest a selfish person?”. Putting yourself first doesn’t always mean the way it looks actually, it doesn’t mean a self-centered person. If you organize your priorities and constraints properly, your self-esteem will grow and in turn others will perceive you with a respect as well. As a consequence, you will be able to decide whether you want or need to keep someone or anything in your life.

The second layer of your life pyramid is about discovering yourself. Everything begins with “you” as we said before so self exploration is a must for success and happiness. Just think about “How can people make you happy if you don’t know how to make yourself happy?”. Every person has interests and activities that will make them feel comfortable and cheerful, you just need to reveal them. Once you discover them, you’ll be assure and clear to others about your boundaries and expectations.

The third layer is about being aware of how analysis has a valid role in the pyramid. Actually, we call “naive” to persons who are not able to analyze the situations and people very well. You will be able to determine what is toxic for you if you are capable of looking at and assessing situations objectively. It’s neither healthy to look from a big window, which will keep you out of the view, nor having blinders on, which will result in a biased thinking.

The final layer will go through your management skills. Undoubtedly, you grew up hearing the phrase “Time management is really important for everything.” but do you think knowing how to manage ‘just time’ is adequate? I’m sure you’ve all seen the professor who did an experiment about “Efficient Time Management” in class using rocks, pebbles and sand. At the end of the experiment the professor concluded it with saying: If we don’t put all the larger rocks in the jar first , we will never be able to fit all of them later. Therefore; first we need to identify our rocks, pebbles, sand and then we will be able to arrange our schedule due to them. Also, don’t forget that being successful does not mean only taking time for your academic life.

To sum up, building a life pyramid is the basis of reaching to a happy and successful life. Considering, the four prerequisites it is not that intimidating at all. You just need be aware of every single prompt and of course don’t forget to appreciate of your life. Eventually, a professor asked: What are your rocks in your life?
