Books’ Power of Changing Perspective

Reading books is a hobby that most people like to do. People usually read books not only to get very deep meanings, but to have fun and gain information. And there are some books that you feel completely shaken after reading like a book with an unexpected ending. And there are also some books that not only shake the reader, but totally change their perspective on life.

The perspective on life is what attitude a person approaches life with  . To illustrate my point let us loom at a paint box and three men. The first guy accidentally steps on a paint can while walking on the road, and he gets very upset and angry with himself because of this carelessness. The second man, on the other hand,  does not care about this much and continues as if nothing has happened. The third man looks at his painted shoes with a laugh and says, “how beautiful, I already needed a change.”  What makes us react completely differently to exactly the same events is our perspective. A book can change our point of view by telling us about life in a way that we have never considered before. Someone who has always looked at life as the first man is very likely to change his perspective on life if he reads a very persuasive book.

One of the books that changed my viewpoint was “The Boy in Striped Pajamas”. In this book, the writer talks about two children who met and became friends in the Second World War. One of these children is German and the other is Jewish. I was very impressed by how  these two children became so close  and friendly to each other despite the  huge class differences between them. Especially at the end, the sacrifice made by the German boy affected me deeply.

Dispite this , we can’t say that every book   ” changes your perspective on life”  because everyone’s perspective on life and other elements that will change this perspective are different. Some books affect me but not you, others affect you but not me. But if we return to our main question, yes, books may change our perspective on life but we can’t know which one.
