BOOKS

“Before I created my books, my books created me,” said Montaigne. With this sentence, he emphasized the importance of books on human life.

We learn from books, we develop ourselves with books, we gain different perspectives, we become more cultured, and we add more knowledge to our knowledge. Books entertain us, make us happy, and make us sad. There are different types of books. People learn about subjects they wonder about and develop their interests with books. To this day, people have expressed the importance of books through sayings, poems, and writings. People who read understand the importance of books by experiencing them personally.

“- Do you read books, Mr. Anderson?

  • I don’t read. And I don’t feel its deficiency.
  • But we feel it.”

This dialogue in the novel “The Dead Bards Charity” highlights the importance of books in people’s lives. When a person explains what they need to tell the other person correctly and the person who needs to understand understands it correctly, an agreement is reached. It is a great deficiency for a person not to see themselves as lacking. If the person doesn’t see themselves as lacking and does not make an effort to correct it, other people will notice their deficiency.

Like Confucius said, “My God, give me a house filled with books and a garden full of flowers.”
