Biodiversity Loss

The loss of biodiversity has been an ongoing problem for several decades now. We have done lots both to bring it back and lose more of it as well. Although the future of biodiversity out in the wild seems hopeless with more and more species nearing extinction, it does not have to be. We can mitigate and take preventative measures for other species of wildlife from going extinct and as new scientific articles have been put out, perhaps even bring old ones back too.

One way I think we could increase biodiversity again is by limiting hunting near areas where there are endangered species. This way, we can prevent the accidental loss of any animals which are near extinction.

Another way I think we could increase biodiversity is by limiting mass production farms such as monoculture plantations or even getting rid of them entirely in areas where there is exotic plant and animal life. Thus, we can prevent the loss of any endangered or rare species slipping into extinction even under our radar..

So far I have only mentioned mitigation techniques where we can manage situations with endangered species. Another thing we can do to fight the loss of biodiversity is to take preventative measures.

For example, battery farming is usually done in wild areas with the need of a large area of land. To clear the land a method known as slash and burn is used. This method can lead to the habitat loss of a plethora of animals as well as plant cover. To prevent animals from losing their homes we could switch to organic farming in which there is still damage done to plant life and the environment but it is at least much more partial.

Overall, there are many ways we can contribute and take action to help combat biodiversity loss.
