A Planet Full of Darkness: Nightopia

Hi, I am Kiara. When I say my life is different from a lot of people, you may not believe me, but you will after you hear my story. If you are ready, let’s start.

I was born in a place you probably have not heard of once: “Nightopia.” It is a whole different planet from Earth. The major difference is that there is no daytime in Nightopia. Which means that there is no sun. It is always dark outside but, we have light sources. Many years ago, there were not any light sources. Our elders had special eyes that had the ability to see at night. As time went by, this special trait passed on to some people. Some people say this trait passes on to special people, and some say it passes on to weird people. I think that it is something special, and guess what? I have this special trait: I do not need any light sources to see, my eyes see everything clearly. I have had them since I was born: big,  gray, special eyes. My mom and dad do not have this special trait, though. I may have made a big deal out of it, but in the past, at the time when there weren’t any light sources, it was a big deal. Not right now, though; it is not a problem for the ones that do not have them, since we have light sources made by our people to guide us through the dark. So, as you understood, we can see, but how do we live?

Normally, the sun is essential for living. Without the sun, there would not be any plants, the animals that eat plants would eventually die, the weather would be freezing, and obviously, it would be dark. We are talking about the Earth, though; those are the effects that it would cause on the Earth. However, I am not living on Earth; I am living in a whole different planet. So without the sun, we are just fine. Our animals and plants are different from the Earth’s. So we can breathe, we can eat, and we can do mostly everything. I actually love the nighttime and my planet, but sometimes I wonder how it would be if we had daytime too. Maybe one day I will find out. Right now, I do not want to, though. Watching the stars in the dark is lovely; not waiting for it to be night, and to watch them whenever I want is something I would not give up. So, that is my story. Some people would say I am lucky to live on a planet like this, and some would not. What do you think?
