Humans have lived with animals. There are many ethical theories about the ethics of human relationships with animals. The use of animals in experiments is a special issue of medical ethics.
Since 2004, testing products on animals was abandoned by European Union. All kinds of animals can be used in experiments, depending on the subject and purpose of the study, but the most used animal species all over the world are fish, cats, dogs, rodents (mostly mice, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits), poultry, equids (horse, donkey). , mules), ruminants, marine mammals, and non-human primates. The first use of experimental animals in scientific records dates back to BC. We come across the Corpus Hippocraticum, written around 400 BC. At that time, the studies on animals were only aimed at determining anatomical structures. For the first time, we see applications that we can call treatment in Galen.
In our country, according to Article 9 of the Turkish Animal Protection Law; Animals cannot be used in unscientific diagnosis, treatment, and experiments. It is important to apply medical and scientific experiments and carry out the experiments in a way that protects the animals and houses them properly cares to be used in the experiments. If no other option exists, animals can be used as experimental animals in scientific studies. Experiments on animals that cause suffering on bodies or nerves are not respecting and obeying animals’ rights.
Even with all of this academic information, I am not okay with testing products on animals and I always be against all of these scientific people with sick mindsets.
