A Letter from Nature to Humanity

Dear Humanity,

Since the beginning, I have provided you with food, shelter, and the beauty of life. My land has fed you, my rivers have hydrated your thirst, and my forests have provided you with air to breathe. You and I coexisted peacefully for ages, taking only what you required and allowing me to heal. However, things changed over time. Forests are destroyed quicker than they can be restored. You poured trash into my oceans and rivers. You used chemicals and smoke to pollute the air. You built factories and cities without considering how they would affect me. I can’t keep up with you since you took more than I could give.

Every day, I feel the consequences of what you did. My animals disappear my forests get smaller, my waters get warmer, and my weather gets unpredictable. Wildfires burn uncontrollably, storms intensify, and droughts leave the area lifeless. Sea levels rise, ice melts, and once thriving life is now under danger. I’ve made an effort to recover, but the harm comes too quickly. I might not be able to support you as much as I used to if this keeps up.

I still have hope, however, despite everything. I see people who are concerned, those who clean rivers, save animals, plant trees, and come up with new ways to live without hurting me. More people are standing up, trying to undo the harm, and making the decision to live in a way that appreciates me. It is still possible to repair what has been damaged. My sky can clear, my rivers can be restored, and my forests can grow again. But I can’t do it by myself.

I simply hope for change, consideration, and respect. If you are kind to me, I will continue to support you. If you respect my warnings, we may work together to build a future in which we both benefit. However, if you ignore me, you will also crumble. You hold the power to shape the future. Will you allow me to fall apart or will you decide to heal me?

With hope,
Nature
