Vegan and vegetarian lifestyles are always open for discussions, because some people believe them as a good solution for the pollution crisis we are facing nowadays, and they think limited access to the animal based food products can lead to a peaceful life where no animal is harmed, killed or captured for you just to have a delicious meal. For them, the life of an animal cannot be taken for someone looking for something to eat. They consider this as greed. There are two types of lifestyles of that kind: First is vegetarian, which you can eat animal products except any kind of meat. The second is vegan, that buns you from eating any animal product, including meat, eggs, milk, honey and many more. Vegetarians mostly use animal products which are not food like goose-feather coat, but vegans don’t use any animal based product at all. Vegans and vegetarians also try their best not to cause pollution of any type, even some of them only has a jar of trash for one year. As you can understand, their environmental impact is too less, so they think this lifestyle is better for animals, nature and the environment.
Of course, there is a larger section of people who disagree this idea, And I am also in that group. This group’s main reason is about the basic needs of human body. As humans, we need to consume some types of food in order to live and they are carbon hydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals. Fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals, and although it’s not enough, you can provide your carbon hydrate needs from fruits. But, these foods do not contain enough protein and fats, and especially protein is necessary for you to grow and get healthier. The second reason following the main is the food chain. Some animals need only one or two type of food to live, but we humans have to follow a diet containing every type of food in a balanced way. So if you look to the food chain, we can consider ourselves at the top of the global food web. If you don’t exaggerate and focus on only one type of food, we can live in a harmony with nature. There is another factor affecting that, and it is rising the population. This is another topic, so I’m not going to talk about it here.
So I have a sentence to talk at the end.
“Everyone must be vegan or vegetarian in 2030 to continue the life on the Earth”
This sentence depends on the way we choose to live in the future. The population grows day by day, and so the amount of pollution grows. It is a true fact that one day the Earth is going to be too small for us. One day, there will be no resource for us to live on Earth. But, can we slow this process by changing our food habits?
Not that much. If too many people become vegan or vegetarian, fruits and vegetables will start running out faster. Herbivores will start dying because of the agricultural product crisis and carnivores will also die because of the death of Herbivores. This will cause a chain reaction. We should apply for other solutions, like balanced food production and balanced diets for everyone. We can live without harming the nature and our beautiful planet Earth.
