Today was the 29th of October, and the small town that is not very well recognized was filled with joy and excitement. There was a little, 10 year old, turkish girl named Ayşe in the town. She was well-known for her being full of energy in the town. Whenever there was an event Ayşe always visited every neighbor to make their day. And today which is the 29th of October she was eagerly taught to get ready for the day. She had been a young age by her grandparents that this day was a very special day for their country, so she had saved up her pocket money to buy some decorations and was now busy getting dressed for the celebrations.
Ayse was wearing a traditional Turkish outfit for the meaning of the day, a dark red dress with gold-colored patterns at the bottom which resembled the style of the Turkish ladies that lived in these times. She felt like a grown-up and someone important as she made her way outside to join her family, friends and neighbors all together in the local square.
The streets were filled with people of all ages, happily celebrating the 29th of October, the Republic Day of Turkey. Everywhere, there were flags, banners, and even fireworks. Ayse saw people dancing, singing, and laughing, and she joined in, feeling like a part of something very special.
But as the day wore on, Ayse began to feel a different emotion. She noticed the sadness in her parents and grandparents faces. At first, she couldn’t understand what was the thing that made them happy but soon she realized why. Today was the anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Turkey. She thought about the wars that have been made to make this country into what it is today. The atmosphere was different, everyone was silent for a moment like they were waiting for someone to make an explanation, even the clouds turned grey and the sky’s light blue color was nowhere to be seen. There was a certain sadness in the air and in the hearts of everyone living in this country
Ayse knew that the 29th of October was a day to remember and celebrate the Republic of Turkey and all that it had achieved, but it was also a day to remember and mourn for the lives that were sacrificed to put this country into shape. Ayse felt a heavy sadness in her heart as she looked around and saw the people of Turkey mourning and celebrating at the same time. It was weird to see all the people smiling when she could sense that everyone was a little broken on the inside. She knew that this sadness would never fade away and continue every 29th of October, but it was also a part of what made the Republic of Turkey so special, their sacrifices and brave behavior.
That night, Ayse went to bed with a heavy heart that was filled with sorrow, but also with a sense of pride in her country and its people. She knew that the 29th of October was special, not just for the Republic of Turkey, but also for the people of Turkey who had lost tons of heroes that day.
