We were on our way to the campsite. I was thrilled to be back with my usual group of 5. We hadn’t been able to meet up so much because of our exams, but it was finally summer time. We decided to celebrate it by going camping like we’d usually do on special occasions. I was also quite excited since we had chosen a different campsite than our usual one.
I was in the passenger’s seat as the DJ of the group, trying to hype everyone up for tonight. However I realised it wasn’t really working when I looked back at Stan and Caleb sleeping all cuddled up like a couple. It was so hilarious that we woke them up with our laughs.
Indie was driving (again) and it didn’t seem like she was happy about it. So I was mostly trying to open her favourite songs to keep her going. Meanwhile Jolie was in her own world ( like always ). Our group was a total chaos, but I liked it so much.
When we got to the campsite, we quickly started setting up the tent. After a few hours of struggle we finally managed to set it up. Though we were starving. ‘Alright! It’s time for the ritual. Now who shall we pick this time?’ Said Stan. Every time we went camping, we would pick three people to go and gather some wood to set up a fire while the other two would start preparing dinner.
After a very long conversation we finally decided that me, Stan and Indie would go. Indie and I were a bit worried since it was our first time in this campsite but Stan didn’t seem to be bothered at all. While picking up some wood we started a deep conversation which was a total mistake. We were so carried on with the conversation until Indie said: ‘Ummm… Guys, did we come from that way?’ I looked at where Indie was pointing at, but everywhere seemed similar to each other.
Our phones obviously had no connection so we couldn’t call anyone. Stan suggested that we’d just try to find our way somehow but I said that would only cause us to get lost even more. Meanwhile it was starting to get dark and cold. We had no idea what to do. We started hearing some howls as well which was even more terrifying.‘I mean Jolie and Caleb will eventually realise that something’s up but I hope it won’t be too late.’ I said with a worried expression. It was at that moment that we heard some noise nearby. We were all shaking.
‘Hey!’ Someone shouted which all made us scream in horror. When we turned around we saw a man which was a relief. ‘Sorry kids, didn’t mean to scare you but what exactly are you doing here?’. We explained the whole situation and he told us he was a resident in that area and that he knew the campsite.
The rest of the night went on so quickly but I was glad about the fact that today ended up as a day we would laugh about in the future.
