Report of the Art Workshop

Introduction:

Last week, our class attended an art workshop about Turkish marbling in the recently opened gallery near our school. The intention of this report is to provide recommendations to improve the experience next time.

Positive points:

Majority of the students found the brochures that explained the history of Turkish marbling  quite useful. They also pointed out that knowing the origin of Turkish marbling made the whole process even more enjoyable. The fact that they hung our works of art at the gallery was nothing but motivating. They gave us some time to comment on each others piece. Obviously, this was a great way to strenghten social bonds. Some of the students even stated that they looked forward to being  ebru artists someday.

Negative points:

Nevertheless, minority of the students believed that two hours for this course wasn’t long enough. In addition, the harsh treatment of artists towards the students stood out. Because a few students couldn’t withstand the psychological pressure, we had to finish the workshop earlier than usual.

Suggestions:

For these particular reasons, ı suggest that there should be teachers that watch over us and step in when needed. I also do believe that we must find another gallery or museum to continue our activities.
