To improve student development and provide enjoyable out of school experiences, I interviewed several students, parents, and teachers to explore which activities might be most beneficial. Based on their responses I recommend three options: art workshop, outdoor adventure program and community service program. I will summarize each option and its benefits in this report.
Art Workshop: The Art Workshop allows students to explore artistic activities like painting, drawing, sculpture. According to a teacher I spoke with, “Art workshops encourage creativity and help students develop problem solving skills.” Students gain accomplishment when they complete a piece of art, and it also helps expressing their emotions. A parent added, “My child has grown more confident in their ability to express ideas through art.” This activity is perfect for students who enjoy doing crafts, learning and wishes to explore their creative side.
Outdoor Adventure Program: The Outdoor Adventure Program includes activities like hiking, camping, rock climbing, and team-building exercises in nature. According to a student who participated, “The Outdoor Adventure Program is not just fun but teaches us teamwork, leadership, and how to face challenges.” It builds confidence and encourages physical fitness. Furthermore, it helps students connect with nature while improving their mental and physical health. A teacher also said “These activities allow students to go out of classroom gaining skills that will stay with them for life.”
Community Service Program: The Community Service Program offers volunteer opportunities like helping at animal shelters or taking part in clean up events. Feedback from a parent mentioned “Community service gives students a sense of responsibility and states the importance of giving kindness .” By being with the community students learn the value of empathy and social responsibility. A student said “It feels good to help others, and it makes me proud to be able to do this.” This activity provide kindness, teamwork, and a sense of community.
Recommendation: While all three activities offer different advantages, the Community Service Program stands out as the most beneficial . It not only benefits students by helping them gain life skills such as empathy, teamwork, and leadership, but it also has a positive affect to a wider community.
Conclusion: I recommend the Community Service Program as a priority while also considering the Art Workshop and Outdoor Adventure Program as other activities for students.
