THE WITCHES’ ROAD

One quiet morning, fifteen-year-old Alex, who lived a perfectly ordinary life on Westview, found himself in the forgotten corners of his town’s old library. He was browsing through the shelves when his fingers brushed against a thick, leather-bound book titled Lady Death. It looked ancient and mysterious, with faded metallic text on its cover. Alex checked it out and took it home.

That night, as he read about the myth of Lady Death, a cosmic being named Rio Vidal, he became intrigued. She was a powerful entity, embodying death itself and maintaining the sacred balance between life and death across the universe. But woven into her story was a thread of deep loss. She had faced countless hardships.

As he turned the last page, an otherworldly, divine light spilled from the book. Shadows danced around his room, and suddenly, Alex found himself face-to-face with the figure from the pages—Rio Vidal herself, standing before him in the quiet of his bedroom. Clad in dark, flowing robes and exuding a cold, cosmic energy, she looked at him with deep, fathomless eyes.

“You have opened my book, young mortal,” she said. “Now, you are bound to my world.”

Alex’s heart raced. “I… I didn’t mean to. I just thought it was a story.”

Rio’s intense gaze softened slightly. “Whoa, kid, are you shocked or something? laughs There is no just in matters of life and death. I need your help, Alex. The Witches’ Road has opened again, and its magic must be broken. You are no longer just a child; you are now my ally on this journey.”

Rio pushed Alex to step through a shimmering portal, leading into a dark forest—the entrance to the Witches’ Road. As they walked, Rio revealed that the road had become even more terrifying over centuries, populated by spirits and dark magic that sought to disrupt the cosmic balance.

They were soon joined by a powerful witch in a purple cloak—Agatha Harkness. She appeared with a sly smile. Agatha, an old rival of Rio’s, had once held the Darkhold, which controlled all dark magic and prophecies.

“Ah, Rio,” Agatha said, glancing at Alex with a smirk, “bringing a mortal boy to the Witches’ Road, huh? You’ve become rather soft.” She chuckled, but her tone grew serious. “You’ll need someone who knows the dangers of this path. And I don’t have the Darkhold with me anymore.”

“Do not test my patience, Agatha. I may not be able to kill you, but I can make you wish you were dead. We will close the road, thanks to this child. You have the book, right, Alex?”

“Yes, I do,” Alex said, taking the book out of his bag. Inside was an ancient spell of Death, meant for this road. Agatha and Rio’s combined witchcraft was so powerful that they easily closed the road for eternity. Alex was in shock. He blinked a few times, and suddenly, he found himself back in his bed. It was just a dream—or a nightmare. But then he noticed the book was still there with him. Would he dare to read it again? Time would tell.
