Film Review: 2 Fast 2 Furious

*2 Fast 2 Furious* is the second installment of the *Fast & Furious* franchise directed by John Singleton. Released in 2003, it is a high-octane action film with car races, extreme stunts, and high-speed chases involved.

The plot revolves around Brian O’Conner, who is an ex-police officer, and his childhood friend Roman Pearce. They both have no option but to help against a gangster named Carter Verone, who is wanted for the crime of conspiracy as well as money laundering. In order to achieve this, they go undercover and get involved in the illegal street racing circuit in Miami.

Of course, the most enjoyable aspect of the movie is the action. The car chases are exciting and the CGI helps in making those scenes believable. The races filled with life and of course the cars which are vividly designed in terms of speed and beauty. This is for those who love fast intimidating machines together with action.

Yet, the plot is rather conventional. The narrative is predictable, to say the least and the characters do not have much depth. Character arcs or narratives are given precedence over action sequences. This might disappoint some of the audiences who wish to see a more serious or contemplative film.

*2 Fast 2 Furious* is a great racing and action film in general, but provides no depth in story-line or characterization for serious cinematography enthusiasts. It is a movie that is commendable if you like high speed cars and high speed pursuits.
