“Murder on the Orient Express” Reviewed by Ela Çifçi

Have you ever read a book that left you shocked at the ending? Agatha Christie’s “Murder on the Orient Express” is one of the best choices for you. It is a classic whodunit with a gripping plot.

Set in 1930’s Yugoslavia where the train is trapped between Vinkovci and Brod because of the bad weather conditions. The novel is mainly about the famous detective Hercule Poirot who travels on the luxurious Orient Express. During the journey, a curious event occurs, and Poirot is called to solve this case.

The plot is the best thing about this novel. Agatha Christie thinks about every single detail a whodunit novel should have. While you are reading this novel you will encounter lots of plot twists, and also, I can guarantee surprises!

Each character has their own secrets and motivations, which makes the story more interesting. As the story progresses, you learn more intriguing details about each character than the one before. During the course of the novel, the passengers change a lot. Even though they do not undergo any physical changes, their behaviour and ideas begin to shift due to Hercule Poirot’s confusing interrogations.

One of the things I learned from reading the novel is that people are not always what they seem. Throughout the plot, those who seem innocent may not be. We can clearly observe that Poirot is very good at identifying those people. Author managed to convey this message excellently.

If you are a fan of whodunits with an engaging plot and well-written there is not much negative aspects to say about this novel, so I highly recommend this novel to the teenagers.
