Do We Really Have To Be Vegan?

I don’t really understand why people think being vegan is so important—especially when they say things like, “You have to be vegan, or else this planet is doomed!” I don’t get the point. Some vegans say they do it because it’s “healthy,” and others because they think they’re saving animals. First of all, only eating vegan food isn’t necessarily healthy! You don’t get enough protein, so how do you expect to stay healthy? Secondly, if vegans think they’re saving animals, why are they eating the animals’ food? Some might respond, “At least we aren’t killing them!” Well then, stick to your vegan food and don’t say that eating meat is bad.

Some vegans even go so far as to hurt people for not being vegan, which I think is crazy! We can’t live without meat, cheese, milk, and other animal products. And this idea that being vegan is going to change everything doesn’t make sense to me. I don’t think humanity can survive without animal products—we’ve been eating them since the beginning! So, in my opinion, vegans should keep their beliefs to themselves.
