The Indomitable Human Spirit

It was the winter of 1988; I was still a little tired from the day before. I opened my eyes to the biggest most important day of my life. I went to my alchemy lab the first thing in the morning as usual. I was on a grand mission, a genie to grant we a wish. Could I create a creator? Could I be mere human create a god? I called upon the banned potions, I managed to find a mushroom that could help me, the side effects were expected but I honestly couldn’t care less. I ate that mushroom thinking that it would be the last thing I would ever eat ever again.

I waked up in a dark cellar with a huge red beast Infront of me, its silhouette was not clear but I managed to catch a glimpse of its red eyes and bulky horns. I had just met the devil himself; he was just stranded there menacingly he came to the light and without moving his lips he said “Say human what do you have to offer?”. I hesitantly said “My soul my lord.” my voice was shaking like crazy and I couldn’t believe the fact that he managed me to say that he was my lord simply by exposing himself. He smirked “Than you shall have a wish.” his voice echoed through the fabric of reality. “What is the secret to immortality?” I asked blatantly. He told me the exact formula with the materials in front of me. He even made the potion and gave it to me; he told me I had a week before he came for my soul.

The moment I held the potion in my very own hands I felt the pressure of which only Atlas who held the sky could imagine. I had the entire cure to every disease ever created but there was a problem. I was scared but not any type of scare. It felt thou I was the only person who had felt true scare. I could save everyone but what would the meaning of life be than. The only reason anyone ever does anything is because they may not do it later. If I give this cure to people what would earth be. I couldn’t live like this; the cure was my life’s mission since I was a little boy. I don’t want to live a meaningless life. This is my suicide note, don’t try to find it I already broke the potion and destroy the formula. Live a meaningful life my friend.
