The Haunted House

It was a dark, starry night. My friend and I was going to meet up at our usual place. I told him to be there at 10 pm. We both were going to sneak out because our parents wouldn’t allow us to go outside at this late time. After I said good night to my mom, I started to pack my bag and put all the things we needed in it. I made sure my mom was asleep and left the house quietly. I locked the door and when I turned around, I suddenly screamed in fear. It was my friend, Ares. I grabbed him from his shirt and ran away because I was pretty sure my mom heard the scream.

Finally, after running for 10 minutes, we came to our place where we usually meet up. I opened my bag and grabbed a map. It was the map of a house in our neighborhood. This house was bigger than most of the houses around and it had a creepy vibe. Everyone talks about it and there are rumors that the house is haunted. They say that the house owner is an old, tall man but I’ve never seen him before. I explained this to Ares and told him that we were going to visit his house. Because we both were curious about this man and his house.

We arrived at the house; it was surrounded by large iron bars. We looked around if anyone was watching or the homeowner was in the house. There were no lights on in the house. This was our chance to get in. We walked in front of the door and slowly opened the door. We waited inside the garden for a few minutes because we were panicking. Then, Ares grabbed me and we started walking to find a way inside. We walked all the way to the back door. Ares checked if the door was locked, it wasn’t. We got in and started to look around. There were lots of photos on the wall of young him with a woman and a little girl. We kept wandering around until we found the door to the basement.

Once we got downstairs, into the basement, Ares told me that he had a bad feeling. I told him not to worry and keep looking around. We split up and I went to the left. There was a white candle. It was on a big wood table and it was the only thing on the table. I thought that maybe the old man went down here and forgot to blow out the candle. I blew out the candle… Whatever happened, it happened when I blew out the candle. Suddenly, we heard a laugh. It was the old man. He stopped laughing and he had a bat in his hand. He looked very mad and started screaming: “MY WIFE AND MY CHILD WAS THE ONLY THING I HAD, YOU STARTED ALL OF THIS AND NOW I’M ENDING THIS BY MYSELF!” Ares and I was shocked. Was he sleepwalking? He started running around but he clearly couldn’t see us. We rushed to the basement door to escape. I was so panicked that I tripped. Ares held me and we got out of the basement. We packed all the of our stuff and got out of the house. We never got near the house again, or saw the old man.
