A Memory That Lasted Forever

It was a chilly Saturday afternoon. It was already getting dark, and I was getting ready to go to my friend Kat’s house for a plan we had made a week before, including my friend Giulia. We had carefully planned everything out and it was finally the day. We were all so excited for the two days we were going to spend together.

I packed my bag, putting everything that I would possibly need. I tried not to overpack since my house was a few feet away from Kat’s house and so was Giulia’s. That was probably why our mothers let us have a two-day sleepover.

I said goodbye to my mom since I probably wasn’t going to see her for two days, and it was quite awkward because she got a bit emotional. I reminded her I would literally be next door, but she still wasn’t quite convinced. When I finally managed to get out the door, I started running before she changed her mind. In less than a minute I was in front of Kat’s door, ringing the doorbell, already imagining the things we would do.

Thinking that this was our last sleepover before me and Giulia left to go to our countries, had made me feel horrible. We had actually wanted to talk about this, but we couldn’t get ourselves to do it. Instead, we just talked for hours and hours about random stuff that just came up to our minds, just as we would always do.

We stayed up late for both nights playing, laughing, joking around and chatting. We tried to have the best time since it was our lasts, and our time together was coming to an end. Our last time having a dinner, watching a movie, playing volleyball, spending the whole night together, all as a three. Everything we did, just reminded me of how much of a good time we had had in only a year.

What made that sleepover so special and distinct wasn’t only what we did, but also the way it made me feel. I was happy to be with the two people that made me feel at my best, but also sad that everything was just coming to an end. It made me realise how fast time flows, just like the past 3 years.
