“What we have ends up owning us”
People are selfish. Even the person with the kindest heart wants more out of something. And the biggest example of this is money. People want money, people earn money. People do everything to have money. They try every way to earn it. Because it is special in every way. Money is happiness for some people. We have money and we use money for almost everything in our daily lifes. But when people use bad ways just to earn money, when they die just to have money… Then the situation completely changes and it is proven that we no longer own the money, the money owns us.
It is the same situation with power. Power, social status, money, love, respect… What would a people not do to have those. If you give power to someone, they think they rule the world. If someone’s social status is high, they think they control other people. If someone earns money, there is a voice inside their head that tells them they deserve more. When they are loved, they get used to it and think that everyone loves them equally. There is no “i love you” in their world’s anymore. If they are shown respect, they think that they deserve the respect without even trying to earn it anymore. We kill each other just for power. Are people really that bad? Do they do anything just for their advantages? I don’t think so. The real reason behind all the things that happen is that people are so selfish that they want everything just for themselves. This is the thing we need to stop. So yes, I agree with this opinion. After a while, when people get used to something, they want more. And the more, and more, and more… And finally they are controlled by the things they want. They don’t own that anymore. The thing that they are trying to earn owns them. So I agree, what we have ends up owning us… I don’t know who said this or where they learned this information but whatever it is, it is true.
