A HAPPY NEW YEAR’S EVE

It was an ordinary night for me. The moon was bright, as always, and the sky was as dark as the words on a page. The clock showed 20:45, a time I usually ignored, but it gained value tonight when I looked at the date. Today held at least a little meaning; it was New Year’s Eve, and the fire of excitement inside me suddenly came to life after being exhausted for weeks. I had been tired of studying for classes and exams for months. But then, I realized that in 4 hours and 15 minutes, I would meet a new year! With this excitement, I looked at my phone, which I hadn’t been able to turn on for weeks because of being busy. I became even happier when I saw the news. The reason for my happiness was this: today was New Year’s Eve, my exams were over, there was a Beşiktaş match, and since today was New Year’s Eve, my friends were coming home! You couldn’t even imagine how happy I was. An hour passed, and my friends came home. I immediately put on my Beşiktaş jersey, scarf, and hat, and we sat down for the match. When the match ended, it was 23:00. My friends and I immediately went to the kitchen and made New Year’s cookies and hot chocolate. As a tradition, we opened the O Ses Turkey New Year Program. We lit the fireplace, spread our blankets on the sofas, placed a beautiful green birch table in front of us, and set out red ceramic plates. Then we heard the famous countdown: 3, 2, 1, and the new year began!
