It is only fair that, as we come together to celebrate the centennial of the Republic of Turkey, we take a minute to honor the hidden heroes of our history: the courageous and unwavering Turkish women who have for centuries made immeasurable contributions to the development of our country. Atatürk, alongside his comrades-in-arms, held these remarkable women in high esteem, and today, as a woman freely expressing my thoughts through this article, I owe a profound debt of gratitude to the female heroes who made countless sacrifices for us a century ago.

The bravery and tenacity of Turkish women, who left an indelible mark on our country’s history, are compellingly shown in history. A century ago, Turkish women were trailblazers in an era when gender equality and women’s rights were not universally acknowledged ideals. They were steadfast in their devotion to their country and its people, fearless and unwavering.

In the turbulent years of the Turkish War of Independence, these remarkable women lent their unwavering support, their hands deftly navigating the intricacies of various roles. Whether as nurses tending to the wounded, combatants on the front lines, or integral members of logistical and communication networks, they played a pivotal role in ensuring our nation’s survival and ultimate success. The sacrifices they made and their contributions were immeasurable and have rightfully earned them a hallowed place in our history.
