Behind the Rainbow

That day, I started doing my homework early in the morning. Although I knew that if I didn’t do my homework for a single day, I would never finish it on time, I couldn’t focus because I was really  sleepy. While I was trying to concentrate, I heard the bell ring, there was someone at the door and it all started with that sound.

I went downstairs and opened the door on the second ring of the bell, it was my cousins. They said they were going to play in the park with a few people from our neighborhood and they invited me too. I accepted the invitation, thinking that it would be good for me to distract myself a little. When we got to the park, the others were already there. There were five of us in total and we were thinking about which game we could choose. It took a long time to find a game because the park was still wet from the rain that had fallen half an hour ago. The good thing about this rain was that the sun came out afterwards and a beautiful rainbow appeared in the air. The rainbow seemed to divide the park in two. While I was staring at it, the others started playing catch. After realizing who I had to run from, I started running. But during the game, I had crossed under the rainbow to the other end of the park and could no longer see my cousins or friends from the neighborhood.

At that moment, I realized that the grass, the trees, the whole park and even the entire neighborhood were brightly colored. At the same time, I felt that all the stress and bad feelings were leaving my body. My surroundings and myself seemed to be free from all evil and that’s why I thought this place was so beautiful. The only thing that bothered me was the sound I heard, and it was like the doorbell of our house. I thought it might be a sign and I started to make my way home. On my way I saw my favorite place in the whole world, it was an ice cream shop. I stopped and walked into the shop. I had never been in before. Colorful umbrellas were hanging on the ceiling and the staff were very friendly. I bought two scoops of ice cream and of course the taste of ice cream was delicious too. Then I heard it again, the door bell was ringing again and again. I understood that I have to be really quick and get out of the shop. Also I had to go up the whole hill road between colourfull houses to go to my house. Our neighborhood was not like this before, but I did not find it strange, as if the colors were comforting me. After walking up the hill for a bit, I saw the grumpy grandmother of our neighborhood, but in this reality, even she was a sweet and smiling person. I helped her take what she bought from the grocery store to her house, and then continued on my way. A little further up, a little boy offered me his apple, this behavior of his cheered me up and a smile appeared on the little boy’s face.

Lastly on my road I saw my cousins and my friends. I was relieved because I couldn’t see them in the park when I crossed under the rainbow and went behind  of it. While I thought joining them the sound of the doorbell in my head became louder. When I finally reached my house, I couldn’t find anyone on the door. Then  just for a moment the sound disappeared and I started to think that how a rainbow could bring me to this beautiful neighborhood, which is colorful, removes bad feelings or bad thoughts, and has friendly people also involves my favorite place. Before I could find an answer, the bell ring I heard earlier came back with the sound of the knob. I looked at the door of our house again and there was a doorknob on it. All sudden I realize that I was hearing the sound of the doorbell that I thought was a sign about where the rainbow had brought me, since the moment I accepted the invitation and left the house. So that was not a sign but at that moment I was hearing a doorknob sound too. Then I heard the third sound, my phone was ringing.

I woke up and answered the call, it was my mother. After that I open the door and got my mom inside. I understood everything that happened after that call. Actually, I had never accepted any invitations, played any games, or crossed into a beautiful land thanks to a rainbow. All I did was falling asleep while I was doing my homework and because I couldn’t wake up, I made my mom ring the bell, use the doorknob, and call me.  After I was able to accept what happened, I went back to my room, I felt still sleepy. So I went to bed and slept in the hope of seeing the behind of the rainbow in my dream again.
