What would happen if everyone agreed in the world? Imagine that a music composition in which each note is the same? I think no one would enjoy listening it. What makes music beautiful is the different notes, ups and downs and various pitches in the melody. It’s like the flowers with different scents or colours. What if the flowers had the same scents? We couldn’t impose meanings to flowers, and there wouldn’t be variety of perfumes. We can see that what makes everything meaningful is differences. What if everyone were blonde with blue eyes, or what if all the house were built in the same design and color? Life would be dull, boring and short of sense of emotion.
That notion of identicalness goes with ideas, thoughts, and attitudes as well. If everyone agreed, who would tell us about many other angles or point of views of a reality. In a world where many truths and realities exist even in tiny problems that we face every single day, looking at a subject or issue for which we are seeking solutions from the same angle could easily lead us not to a solution but to new problems. We can find the right idea by allowing our thoughts to argue among them. How can people argue about the same idea? They simply cannot, because there is nothing to argue about, which is really funny.
So, this proves to be true in technology, science and other areas. For instance, technology advancements all through the history have been achieved as a result of conflicting ideas. If the scientists in history didn’t tell their ideas in spite of the danger of death penalty, life wouldn’t be easy today.
To sum up, what makes our lives meaningful are diversity of points of views and ideas. These differences help people to develop. The differences also make the things more intriguing. If the rainbow had the same colours, who would love the rainbows?
