Turks and Caicos Islands

Did you ever wonder, why is there and island in North America named “Turks and Caicos Islands”? The answer is simple but weird. That island is owned by Britain, not one of the Turkish countries. It is a Caribbean region, and the story behind its name is; There is a cactus named “Melocactus Intortus” on that island, and that cactus looks like the Turkish fez. That’s why its name is like that. There is no relation between them.
If that island was owned by the Turks, there would be a lot of problems. You probably know Britain owns almost all land in the world. Just like the conflict between Argentina and Britain, it would be the same. If you don’t know the conflict between Argentina and Britain, let me explain really quick; So, there is an island called “Falkland Islands” on the south part of South Africa. Two of the countries (Britain and Argentina) wants it so there is a conflict between them. It would be no difference if we owned the Turks and Caicos Islands. There would be a lot of wars in either Turkey and TACI (Turks and Caicos Islands) so it’s better for our safety if we do not own it, and probably we won’t. We are the 37th biggest country in the world so it wouldn’t affect either tourism or landmass. I hope you’ve learned something new today. Have a nice day, Bye!
