Save the Animals

Should we be testing on animals? This topic is important because there is a lot of debate around it on these days. Some people say it’s cruel and inhumane, and that animals have rights too. On the other hand, there are people who say it has a positive outcome because we have discovered new ways to cure fatal diseases and improve our medicines. All over the world, animal activists and institutions have argued whether or not research should be used on animals or should be outlawed.

People have different feelings for animals; many look upon animals as companions while others view animals as a means for advancing medical techniques or experimental research. In my opinion although humans often benefit from successful animal research, the pain, the suffering, and the deaths of animals are not worth the possible human benefits. That means the pain and suffering that experimental animals are subject to is not worth any possible benefits to humans. Therefore, animals should not be used in research or to test the safety of products. Animals and people are alike in many ways; they both feel, think, behave, and experience pain. Thus, animals should be treated with the same respect as humans. Yet animals’ rights are violated when they are used in research because they are not given a choice. Animals are subjected to tests that are often painful or cause permanent damage or death, and they are never given the option of not participating in the experiment. Their decisions are made for them because they cannot vocalize their own preferences and choices. And we have no right to take someone’s life. Therefore, animal experimentation should be stopped as it violates the rights of animals. Scientists should search for some more alternatives for testing after that we can protect animal’s life. Unless they discover other ways of testing medicines, I think tests on animals are unethical.

In conclusion, I am of the opinion that the benefits do not outweigh the disadvantages, and testing on animals should not continue. Although it may improve the lives of humans, it is not fair that animals should suffer in order to achieve this. And animal should have as much right as a human being to live out a full life, free of pain and suffering.
