….
But it was not the end I hoped for. No peace, no solitude, and no end.
Instead, ı only became one at another place.
The place I had just woken up in, had a feeling different than anything else I have ever felt. It was almost too peaceful. The sensation of only waking up there sent chills down my spine. I was laying on the cold hard floor staring into the ceiling of the mansion (which I later learned what it was).
Stıll in emotional shock at what happened, I struggled to get up. The only thing that gave me enough energy to stand on my legs was the possibility of being alive. Whilst I gained all my vision back and got over the blackout,
I realized my body felt different. I was taller, had darker skin, and was not in the same clothes.
Fortunately, I woke up near a big and almost mighty mirror to realize it was not me at all. I was in another person’s body, I had a black baseball cap, an olive green coat, jeans, and white converses on also long blonde hair. Suddenly I felt like I had to get out of here quickly. Only then i was fully aware of my surroundings.
Though there was a slight breeze, that sent another set of chills into my whole body this time, there appeared to be zero windows, which was weird. Because the place was huge. It appeared to be a massive mansion with gold detailing and had the essence of 19th-century royal french buildings, maybe it was a castle. But it was dark, uncomfortably dark. The doors were so big that I almost couldn’t open the door to what seemed to be the other main room. I just couldn’t believe how big the rooms were.
I was trying to find an exit aimlessly I noticed another door appearing out of nowhere. It was glowing in the dark candlelit room and when I opened it I noticed it opened to a staircase. Because I had nowhere to go I grabbed one of the candelabra and headed downstairs carefully, feeling deep down I didn’t explore the castle fully and that there were other rooms with secret passages I couldn’t find.
Downstairs was not different than the main floor, if not any worse.
I was greeted with cells divided by iron bars with little walking space between them. There were at least 20 cells with blood-curdling noises coming from within. I couldn’t bring myself to check that area so I moved on deeper.
After walking through at least 20 minutes of endless corridors ı finally came up to the kitchen area. It smelled off-putting. But there were windows and a big door that opened up to the garden area.
I stıll was not outside like I hoped but I was more than nothing. Lııke I suspected the building was a castle and I was standing in the middle of the garden surrounded by it.
At that point I was so cold, ı thought the fluffy coat I was seeing was an illusion. But as I got closer to it I sensed I had seen this coat before.
I sat down wearing the coat, trying to catch my breath. I put my hands in my pockets to feel more warmth but ı found a piece of paper that said “call me now!” with handwriting that again, felt familiar. The number written on it was missing the last digit. And ıı didn’t even know if phones existed in this reality because everything looked like they popped out of an old painting of 19th-century France.
I should’ve expected it , a payphone appeared out of nowhere right in front of me.
