Eating takes up about three hours of a day yet it is much needed to not only be healthy, but to fix or stabilize our mood too. It is proven by scientist that the nutrients we take affect our mood drastically. We all know about how chocolate releases happiness hormones, but I think everything we put in our mouth has effect on our mood whether it is as small as a crumb or as big as a cow.
Imagine that you just woke up and you or not feeling well. You skipped school and you are not felling like getting out of your bed. You know that you should really get out and have a breakfast in order to get healthy nutrients that will help you get well sooner but also to feel a bit better psychologically. Maybe you have a hot tea to make you more relaxed and then go back to sleep. This is just a basic example proving that people sometimes eat to only change or fix their mood.
Oily fishes such as salmon can also affect our mood. They contain omega-3 which plays an important role in tasks such as brain development and cell signal transmission. A study showed that omega-3 can help prevent or lower the levels of depression and that is why oily fishes are recommended by doctors. Another example can be oats since they are rich in fibre and that helps us to maintain a certain mood and not to have mood swings.
In conclusion, while only about one eight of a day is spent eating, it can change our behaviours for the rest of the day. It is proven that certain nutrients affect our mood excessively and those nutrients helps us to maintain a certain mood. In order to have a better life, we should be careful about the things we eat.
