Sail Into The Danger

John was the only son of an ordinary and lower class fisher family. Altought his condidtion was not very good, he was used to finding happiness even in the smallest beauty of life which was mainly because of his mothers raising way of him, full of love, play and courage. Back when he was a toddler, his mother used to tell him stories, legends and myths about the crucial world they live in, hoping John would never have to face against that side of the moon. Eventhough those stories were dark and made for convincing children that the outer world is dangerous, John loved them and thought that he should explore the outer world.

He had a specific story that lived in his mind rent free. It was about an underwater cave which was believed to lead to another place where everything is different, people, food, even the laws of physics! So he started learning everything about this cave. He researched every book in his small town, question every wise elder and looked for information himself. He also started training secretly ever day due to his parents being against the idea of him exlporing the ocean because they thought that it was really dangerous and could lead to bigger  problems in the end.

John did not stop eventhough everyone he asked told him this was not a good idea and  every source he searcehd said going after this cave meant simply suicide. At the age of 24 he was ready. Both mentally and physically. So one night he left his home only leaving a note for his parents.

But there was a catch which he did not think of. When he left the house his father wasn’t there. He ha actually noticed this but didn’t think about it a lot and thought that it was normal because his father usually used to get up reeally early in the morning and go for a walk on the beach. So John thought that his fathers absence in the house was normal and it wouldn’t make any problems.

When he arrived at the point where he was planning to leave, he saw his father standing by the sail which John would use to explore the ocean. He asked ”What were you thinking when you planned all of these, huh?” Then he continued: “ This directly means suicide, I can’t let my only child kill himself in such a meaningless way!”

It all seemed pointless to his dad but John knew he would be able to discover something there and this was his childhood dream. So he didn’t back up, he scuffled with his dad who was holding the ropes of the sail in his hand and managed to win. He quickly jumped on the sail and started the engines. While his dad was watching him disappear on the horizon John looked at his city for one last time. Then he turned his back to the city and took a big breath. Like Christopher Columbus, he too burnt with the desire toset sail to the vast and discover new foreign land.
