We live on a small planet when we compare it with the size of the universe, and still, we cannot solve all the mysteries. Since we don’t know much about our planet, we know only a small part of the universe. There have been several investigations on the size of the universe, but there is no exact number yet. Further, Edwin Hubble found evidence that shows the universe is expanding continually. When we are unaware of the enormity of the universe, how can we think that we are the only living things in it?
A planet called “Hycean” that can support human living conditions has recently been discovered. The discovery of such a planet suggests that more of these worlds may exist, even given our limited understanding. Additionally, life may exist on a planet where living organisms exist without oxygen and other essentials for human survival.
In addition, we cannot assume that there is no other organism with more sophisticated thinking abilities, as the functioning of the human brain is still not completely known. Also, because we are only aware of what exists inside our planet, the ability to think does not imply that other living entities are similar to us. Due to their advanced thinking, they may be a hundred years ahead of us in terms of technology and knowledge about the universe.
Thousands of light years away from Earth, colonies of living things may have started existing far earlier than humans. Maybe there is a community out there that is as interested in the cosmos as we are. As we don’t try to communicate with the little bugs on the other side of the globe, perhaps colonies on other planets are aware of our presence and don’t feel the need to do so because they are more sophisticated. Far too many alternatives may exist, but we won’t know whether one is true until our space technology has advanced sufficiently or until we get a message.
