From Hammurabi to present, many governments have tried to prevent crimes by tough laws. But they have seen those tough laws don’t prevent crimes. To prevent crimes, we need to investigate the reasons behind them. For example, if someone accidentally commits a crime, we shouldn’t give a tough punishment. But if someone plans and commits a crime willingly, we should give a tough punishment. But again, it doesn’t prevent crimes. We need to remove the factors leading crimes to prevent them. For example, if some commits a crime because of poverty, we need to increase the wealth. If someone commits a crime because of lack of education, we need to educate people better. So, tough laws aren’t a solution.
