100th Anniversary of Republic of Turkiye

It has been a century since the Republic of Turkiye was declared. We celebrate this day with enthusiasm every single year with poetries, sketches, performances and traditional Turkish dances. In the evening is when things get even better because of the fireworks in the sky, musicians commemorating, and celebrating while walking through the beautiful city.

Having this day off and still celebrating it in different ways makes us remember that this country was not easy to achieve in the first place and that we should always take care of it no matter what because Mustafa Kemal Atatürk entrusted us this majestic country. This holiday marks the end of the Turkish War of Independence and the transition from an empire to a republic. This day symbolizes our unity, independence and sovereignty.

We should never forget this day or our past because our past is the reason we are here right now. This day alone is the birthday of Turkiye and we are so lucky to be children of Atatürk because he gifted us children, teens, and adults a day when no leader did that to their people. Mustafa Kemal had been the driving force behind the uprisings, and he was well respected and the obvious choice as a president. Years after his election, he has introduced many new political, economic and cultural reforms to the country that led to him being given the last name “Atatürk”, meaning “Father of the Turks”, in 1934. And now he is usually being reffered as that. Each business in Turkey and many homes display a picture of Atatürk behind their receptions, in the sitting room, or at the main entrance.

What we should really understand is that we had the worlds’ best leader and he teached us so many new things, cared about children, cared about his people and cared about anyone at all. Even if they were an enemy !
